hi !

i have a p3 800mhz cpu and a 128 mb ram and windows xp installed i want to
upgrade my ram but wonder what to do a lot of questions to be asked

1. currently i have a 128 mb pc100 sdram ,,, and i want to add some more
memory (128 mb or 256 mb ). my intel d815eea mother board supports 512 mb of
maximum ram would i be able to install another 256 or 128 mb ram with my
current 128 mb ram ....

2. is it necessery to install another ram of the same speed as the one
installed as the one currently installed ie pc 100 sdram.

3. if yes then would my pc run fast if i replace the current 128 mb pc 100
sdram with pc133 .

Hello
If your max is 512mb then I would not exceed that.
You will probably have 2 DIMM slots and you will need to see if you have 2 -
64mb sticks installed if so you will need to purchase 2 - 128mb or 1 - 256mb
stick and install.
XP is very ram friendly but at the same time it is picky and might not work
correctly with mismatch ram, if you have 1 - 128mb PC-100 SDRAM then
purchase another stick of the same and install.

Yes you will notice a difference in the operation of open applications with
more ram.

Given your CPU speed I'd max-out the memory. Go to
www.crucial.com and try to identify the make and model
of your system.

See
http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d815eea/

You can download the mobo manual from that page. You can
use PC 100 or PC 133, in combinations up to 512 MB. Adding
one 256 MB stick will give 384 MB which is plenty for most
users.

Intel does not support the board any more with updates, but
you can still download manuals, etc.

It has three, can use combinations of single or double side
SDRAM up to a maximum of 512 MB.
