Problem with Outlook 2000 Personal Folders

I installed Outlook 2000 on a new hard drive. Then moved the old .pst file
into the same folder with the new .pst file Outlook created. Problem - I now
have 2 .pst files. The new one Outlook created is called Contacts and has no
entries, the old one I moved is now called Contacts1. When I sync my
Handspring, it syncs to the new Contacts which is empty - not to Contacts1,
the old one, which has addresses in it. All the Outlook files are this way -
notes, tasks, journals, etc.
Your help is greatly appreicated.

How did you open the old PST and is what mode is Outlook installed?
Help>About will tell you.

Brian - After I posted this question, I continued looking for answers and
found your response to another persons same dilema. You recommended opening
the old contacts folder, selecting a contact, pressing CTRL-A to select All
Contacts, right-clicking and choosing Move to Folder. Then choosing the new
Contacts folder and clicking OK. This transferred all the old contacts into
the new contacts folder - and it worked beautifully!!! I was able to do this
for tasks, notes, journals and contacts. Calendar did not work - so I
manually inserted the few items I had... I was then able to right-click on
the old and now empty Contacts, Notes, Journal, and Tasks and choose Close.
All my info is now in the new folders and the old ones are gone!! Thanks!!!

To do the same to the Calendar, change the View to "By Category" and then
CTRL-A will select all the items.

right-click on the old and now empty Contacts, Notes, Journal, and
Tasks and choose Close. All my info is now in the new folders and the

I'm glad you're happy.
