problem with mouse pointers

My pointers my about irraticly when trying to select items
on the sceen, similar to a joystick when being
calibrated. I am currently using a logitech optical by
have tried with a roller ball and another optical all have
the same occurance. My pointer movement is set to low and
my video drivers have been also updated since this
started. Is there a way to calibrate a mouse's movement?
