Problem with mouse after installing XP

I just installed XP Pro in my HP Pavilion.
I did a full install after formatting my hard drive.
Now 1 out of every 3 or 4 times when I boot up, the mouse doesn't work. If
I reboot once or twice, it works fine. I tried switching mice but made no
difference. I never had this problem when I was using Win/98. Any ideas?

What's is the brand of mouse you are using?
Also model number if possible.

I tried it on 3 different mice.
A Labtec, a Gateway, and a GE mouse model # WK2005.
I have the problem no matter what mouse I use.
I was using the GE mouse on win/98 and never had a problem.

Type of mouse: (PS/2, USB or serial??)

Is the mouse wireless???
