Problem with Internet Explorer on my desktop

Hello, I would like your help. Each time I clicked on the
Internet Explorer icon on my desktop to get to the
Internet, I get nothing at all from it.

What causes this? How do I get this fixed?

I do have the very latest version of Explorer installed
on my PC and I am running Windows XP Pro.

Try the following and see if it works.

Repair shortcuts

Type the command in the RUN box:

REGSVR32 /i SHDOCVW
