The admin user Internet Explorer icon on my desktop will not bring up
Internet Explorer (IE) .

I also can not start it from the .EXE file in the IE folder. I have other
user accounts that the IE desktop icon works just fine.

Using Windows XP Home with IE 6.0

Hi,
Any error message?

Try disabling add-ons from Control Panel> Internet Options> Programs> Manage
add-ons. An add-on may be causing this.
Next... See if IE opens in this user account from a Safe Mode with
Networking startup.
315222 - A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP:

If IE opens from Safe Mode, you need to find the third-party program,
toolbar, add-on, etc. that's causing the problem.
Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers,
security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at
any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure,
reinstall, or not reinstall, a program. Turn on the Windows Firewall (from
Control Panel or Security Center) before disabling a third-party firewall.

Less likely, but it may be a malware problem.

Hope this helps,
