Problem with home network

Lately I've been having trouble keeping all three
computers connected to the network. 1 desktop with 98, 1
with Xp, and a laptop with Xp. When the two desktops are
the only ones on the network, it seems to work fine, but
when I throw the laptop on, it seems to kick the others
and itself off. It will also not let me download
anything, and gives a "The connection with the server was
reset" message, or the download freezes. Is there a
conflict of IP addresses or is there a problem with the
laptop?

Any ideas/pointers will be greatfully helpful.

Hi Jeremy,
Sounds like it's laptop. Try the followings:
-Go to the task manager and under the Processes 'end task'
programs one by one, except explorer.exe to see if a
particular application causes the problem. If it that is
the cause, remove it or disable it at startup.
to disable it: start/run type in 'msconfig' and open
startup tab and disable that on it. (or you can disable
all applications safely except your antivirus, to launch
your computer faster)
-Disconnect your 98 or desktop from your network and
connect your laptop instead, if that is not a cable issue.
(faulty network cable might cause the problem)
-Install and run a spyware program such as Ad-aware,
spyboot ... if you don't have one.
