home network connection problem

I have a laptop and a desktop. I can access internet through my laptop. I use
a network cable( cat 5E crossover cable ) connect them together. This is a
direct connection without any hub. I setup these two computers separately as
the following:
Laptop: IP Address automaticlly get; share internet connection with others.
Desktop: IP Address automaticlly get; access internet through other computers

My laptop can work correctly if I only use wireless network. But after I
connect my laptop to my desktop I can not access internet. It seems that my
laptop try to use the LAN, not my wireless network, to access internet. Then
I plug off the lacal cable between two computers it is available again.

I don't know the reason. Help me please.
