When i use the email support to contact a microsoft professional using the 90
day free charge email support i recieve the error message when filling the
form out :(The product ID number you entered is not valid or is not in the
correct format. Please enter a valid product ID number and try again. Make
sure the product ID number is of the form: 12345-XXX-7654321-98765) i was
wondering if anyone could help me in trying to resolve this and who to
contact or what the problem maybe in the first place? Thanks and all
responses are much helpful to me

When this happens, the usual cause is that you are entering an OEM product
ID. This means that you have a system that came from the manufacturer with
Windows pre-installed.

All support for OEM versions are the responsibility of the manufacturer.
This is why they cost so much less than a retail version. Call the maker of
the system for support.

Then why in hell doesn't the error message just say that, rather than the
gobblygook about a not valid ID number or a correct format of the number?
Sigh ... MickeyMouse and its useless error messages that leaves its
customers confused.

Cheers.

Because the cause of the failure could be one of many, many different
reasons, including improperly entering the key. This is why I said the
"usual cause" is entering an OEM PID.
