Problem with graphic errors

When ever I try to start a game, it would work fine for like 5 mins than my
screen graphic is all messed up. There is like horizontal lines going across
my screen and none of the options I can think of work. The only way to get
out of it is manually remove the powercord and shut it down. What is wrong
with my computer?

Overheating?
Latest driver installed?

Dont think its over heating becaues its just been turned on for first time
since yesturday and the lastest driver installed is like 2 months ago.. Not
that long.

Could it be something wrong with the graphic card or something?
