Problem with DVD/CD burner DMA is off

Dear All,
I have a Sony DRU 530A that is working too slow.
When starting MyDVD software (came with the burner) it says that DMA is off.
I went to System and ATA/ATAPI controller,
(Primary IDE chanel is fine DMA 5 for device 0 and DMA 2 for the device 1)
However, I am not able to change the current transfer mode from PIO to DMA for the secondary IDE chanel, I have seleced Use DMA if available but it does not want to chnage the status to DMA,
Please let me know if you could help me with this,
Thanks,
Firouz

If a device gets too big a burst of errors, it backs off to PIO and
sticks. First check on the hardware connections (particularly that it
is an 80 wire cable), then in Dev Manager highlight the master level
controller, above Primary, and Action - Remove. OK and reboot to let
PnP reinstall for another go
