Hi
I need to install Windows Media Player 11 for my netflix account. The
problem is that it is only compatible with XP 2005 or later. (I have
2002). Is there any update or free upgrade or anything that I can get
to make this possible?

Thanks
Allan

Do you mean Media Centre 2005?
My year of XP is also 2002. You can install WMP11 without problem.

Have you got SP2 installed?

Windows Media Player 11 is designed to work with all editions of WindowsXPService Pack 2 (SP2), and can also be used to restore Windows Media
Player and related technologies to N and KN editions of Windows Vista.

You DO need SP2. Try again.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but I do have sp2 installed and yet
when I install WMP 11 I get the message:

Unsupported Operating system
To install Windows Media Player 11, you must first be running Windows
XP media center 2005 or later.

The Microsoft web site reiterate this, hence my origional question

I suggest that you pose your question to the mediaplayer group, as they
may help you find out what you are needing to do. Here is the location.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but here is a direct quote from the
page you sent me to. I will try the other group, as you suggested.
Thanks for your help

Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP supports Windows XP Media
Center Edition 2005 with KB900325 (Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP
Media Center Edition 2005) and KB925766 (the October 2006 Update
Rollup); however, it does not support previous releases of Windows XP
Media Center Edition.

I was "lead" to believe that Microsoft's Sevice Pack 2 was to update
the MCE 2002 to MCE 2005??

My humblest apologies, I misunderstood your reference to 2002 as Windows
XP as opposed to you meaning "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002"
