Problem with desktop icons, pls help

Hi,

I don't know what I did but it seems the description of my desktop icons now
have a color around them. I do not want this. Before whatever I did, the
descriptions were transparent. I went into Display but cannot figure out how
to get the words underneath to be transparent again.

Please help.
Thanks,

Hello, Two ways to fix this problem:

1- right click an empty place of your desktop and select properties, the
display properties will open - go to desktop tab - select "customize desktop"
at the bottom of the window - go to web tab - uncheck lock desktop items - go
out with ok

2-right click an empty space of the desktop, select "arrange icons by" -
uncheck "Lock web items on desktop"

There are actually four settings that must be configured for transparent icon background to work properly.

1. Go to Control Panel / System / Advanced Tab / Performance Section / Settings Button / Visual Effects Tab. Make sure that "use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is checked.

2. Right click the Desktop and select Arrange Icons by and make sure that "Lock Web items on desktop" is NOT checked.

3. Make sure that there is no live web content on the desktop. Right click the desktop and select Properties / Desktop Tab / Customize Desktop Button / Web Tab. Make sure that all checkboxes are cleared.

4. If you are using a desktop wallpaper, make sure that it is an image file (.jpg, .bmp, etc) and not an HTML (.htm) file.
