Problem with backup utility

We have selected "All info on this computer" to back up to an external HD.
In going thru the backup wizard it ask's to have a floppy ready at the end of
the backup. When we get to the point of the last wizard screen "Completing
the Backup or Restore Wizard, It say's "to close this wizard and start the
backup, click Fininsh."
As soon a we click Finish we immediately get a message box stating: The
files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was
aborted. What are we doing wrong and how do we get past this to actually get
a backup going. Help!!!!

You are using the ASR wizard? Is the OS Home or Pro? If Home ASR doesn't
work on it. If Pro I have had this error and never figured out why it
wouldn't create the ASR floppy. Fortunately it is easy to recreate the
floppy after the fact by copying several files from the backup set to the
floppy. See this article.

Because of this and other issues with ntbackup I long ago stopped using it
and moved to a disk imaging program.
This makes an exact image of the partition which can be saved on CD/DVD or
to another drive - internal or external. Imaging to an external USB 2.0 /
Firewire drive works well. Then occasionally burning an image to DVD gives
you redundancy. Restores can be done of the entire partition or individual
files / folders. These work well and make it easy to recover from a drive
crash. Examples of this are:

Norton Ghost 10
Acronis True Image
Terabyte Unlimited's Image for Windows
CasperXP

Another option is a traditional backup program such as Stompsoft's PC
BackUP, Sonic’s Backup MyPC or SecondCopy from www.centered.com. There are
other backup programs out there as well. This can do a complete backup or
backup individual files and folders to DVD/CD and other drives.
