Problem with AutoAdminLogon registry key

Hi All,

I wanted to add "AutoAdminLogon" key to the registry and set its value to 1.
For this I have added Automatic Logon component to the image but the key is
not getting created. If I add the key manually the key value changes to 0 at
the next restart. I don’t know why this is happening.
I tried adding User Account component along with Automatic Logon component,
if I select user account then I don’t get the registry editing permissions,
should I select Administrator account?
Please guide me on this.

Thanks & Regards
Roshan.

Hello sean,

Thanks for your reply. Earlier I was doing the wrong thing; I simply added
the Automatic Logon component with out mentioning the Domain Name, User Name
and Password, thinking that it will create the “AutoAdminLogon†registry key
for me. All this I was doing to remove the Welcome message and User Name,
Password screen from at XPe boot time. Because from one of the post I came to
know that by setting “Logon Type to 0â€, “AutoAdminLogon to 1†and
“DisableStatusMessages to 1†I will be able to hide the system messages
(Welcome and password screen) at XPe boot time. I am working on Custom Shell
and I don’t want to see any Windows Messages on screen.
When I tried adding manually the “AutoAdminLogon†key and set its value to 1
it works fine for first time. At the next boot the value changes to 0
automatically, I don’t know how.
I later added the User Account component and mentioned the User Name and
Password both in “Automatic Logon†and “User Logon†component. I did not
mention the Domain Name. In User account component I have selected User Type
as User.
When I build the image with these settings I found that I am not having the
privileges to set the Network settings (setting the IP address) and do other
registry settings. How can I add the Administrative privileges to User login
from registry (in Target Designer?)
I also want to know the following:
1) What value should be set in the Domain Name filed in Automatic Logon
component?
2) Can I add and set “AutoAdminLogon†key in registry with out adding
Automatic Logon component? If yes then how can I prevent its value changing
to 0 automatically after logon?
3) Is there any link to know about the other options in User Account
Component? (Power User, Guest and Administrator)

I am working on a close time bound project and I don’t have much time to
work on gina.dll; please can you guide me in this regards.

Regards
Roshan.
