Did you read this part of the article?

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a
specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the
specific update in question.

Jaybird,
Contact MS Support by phone. If it's determined that you need the fix in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822232 and you don't raise any other
issues, you won't be charged for the support call (other that normal phone
charges.)

Jaybird,

That is a relatively old hotfix. My guess is that you may already have
a later version of that module and hence that it could already contain
the fix; otherwise you might be forcing them to create a newer version
of the fix just for you and that might incur charges. More likely though
is that your self-diagnosis is faulty so you could actually have a different
problem.

What's the version information for the shdocvw.dll you have?
