Problem with access to E Drive (for CD/RW)

I have Windowsxp installed. There is a E drive for CD/RW
and a F drive for DVD.

I have also Ahead/Nero software installed for the CD/RW.

Somehow when I try to 'burn' data disc, NERO asks me to
SAVE the image on my harddisk though it says it has
finished 'burning'.

Then when I go to the WORD software trying to read what I
have written on the CD, it says 'You do not have access
to the folder E:\. See your administrator for access to
this folder'.

Is the data (text) burnt on the CD ? How do I read it
back ?

How do I gain access to the E drive for WORD or other
Microsoft software ?

My vendor is too busy to answer my question. They want it
to bring the hardware into their shop. It seems too
cumbersome to do if the access can be gained by changing
some options under the CONTROL PANEL for example.

Appreciate any help. DJAOYING

I'm not sure that you completely understand the burning process and/or
that I completely understand your post. Let's take question 1 first:

All burning programs will ask you if you want to Save when you are
finished burning. This is in case you *always* burn the *same* data on
a regular basis. It's like making a template so you can make a
duplicate. If you don't do this - and most people don't - you can just
say "no" to the Save dialog and exit out of Nero.

For question 2 - Now that you've burned your data on a cd-r (and it is
best to use a cd-r and not the packet-writing function of Nero's InCD),
you can put that cd-r in either of your cd/dvd drives to see the files
you've saved. Double-click on any of them and the program associated
with that file should open. For instance, if you double-click on
"file.doc", MS Word should open and display that file. If you have a
file called "spreadsheet.xls", then double-clicking it would open the
file in MS Excel.

I hope this has helped. Sometimes hiring a local computer professional
to come and teach you how to use things at your house, on your own
computer, is a good idea. I do this for lots of my clients. Consider if
this might be a useful thing for you to do. Or buy a beginner's book
like "XP For Dummies". That series of books has an unfortunate name -
you are *not* a dummy because you don't know computer stuff - but the
books are actually very good.

Not very long ago, I had to face the same kind of problem. If you are
trying to burn a disc while you are logged in as an unpriviliged user, i.e.
you don't have an administrator account, you can try for years and Nero
won't let you burn a byte. If you want to burn as an unpriviliged user,
there must be a special component called Nero BurnRights installed on your
computer. However, Nero will let you save an image of the future disc on
your hard drive; it is done in a rather confusing dialogue, which may cause
an impression you are actually burning a disc, which is not the case. Please
note, in the last step of the burning wizard, an "Image Recorder [CD-R/RW]"
drive, which is the only drive that you can dipose of as an unpriviliged
user. This is not the CD/RW drive!! It is a virtual drive; its purpose is to
save an image of a disc as a single file on your hard drive for later use.
So, it is clear you can't open any file from drive e: (in any application,
not only Word) when the disc remained empty. You saved an image of your data
somewhere on your hard drive, that's all.

Now, there are two possibilities: either use an admimistrator account for
burning, or install Nero BurnRights. Follow this link:

I hope this will help you, good luck!
