Problem with a TIF contact sheet

T

Tom Brown

When I use the Print Wizard and I have selected multiple JPEGs to print, I
am able to see a contact sheet with multiple images on it and it works
great. If I select very large TIF files (or maybe even small ones), the
behavior gets strange.

When I select the JPEG contact sheet and click Next, it asks what printer I
want. If I manage to get some TIFS on the contact sheet, it immediately
spools the individual TIF photos to my default printer at the same time it
asks me to select which printer I want to use. I have a dedicated printer
for photos but it is not my default printer. I always have to go to the
Print spooler and delete the TIF images before printing. Some of the TIFs
are huge .... 15-30 Mb.

Any help will be appreciated,

Tom

I think the combined file size of the group
of TIFFs is exceeding the capacity of your
printer cache...this would explain why the
images go directly to the printer.

You could easily convert the TIFF files to
JPEG and use them to print your contact
sheets with less difficulty.

Here are two freebies that can do batch
format conversions...and print contact sheets
also.

Thanks John. I used to use Irfan view years ago. Actually, we had already
converted them to JPG with Photoshop Elements but it's a pain in the arse
and I just thought it was strange behavior and wanted to ask about it. My
wife uses the TIF images in magazine publishing.

But, I'll give these new viewers a try.
