Problem with a font

I created a PowerPoint presentation on my Windows 98 using
PowerPoint 2000. I used a font (Carolina) purchased from
Fonts.com for the slides. It looked great on my desktop
PC. I saved to disk and tried to show it off my laptop
(Compaq nx9010 with Windows XP). Aside from the
resolution being furry, the letter "k" doesn't show.
Weird. What's wrong?
