Problem when attempting to install DirectX 9.0b

I get the folling error message when using Windows Update and
installing DirectX 9.0b:

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing
to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why this testing
is important.) This software will not be installed. Contact your
system administrator.

I also get error messages when I attempt to install Adobe Premiere Pro
that seem to be DirectX related.

This is a clean install of Windows XP Pro on an Asus A7V333-X with
Nvidia GeForce3 Ti 200, Western Digital 120Gb.

Please respond to group...
