For some reason anytime I attempt to open an mpeg etc with media player I am
unable to view it. The sound is there, but no feed. So far I've tried
opening from several emails; tried to cascade my windows; removed and
reloaded Media Player 10 from my system - still nothing. What happens is
every time I open it, I get
sound, get the Media Player task bar, try to restore or maximize it and it
flies off into the top right hand corner of my screen out of view. Any
suggestions pleeeeze!!!
So far this doesn't happen with any other program!

It is "mpeg" or "etc"? Some mpeg files are encoded with "DivX", and Windows
Media Player needs some codecs to properly play the file. Go to
http://www.divx.com and download the codecs. It's free.

Your program may be opening out of range of the viewable area of
your monitor.

When the program flies out of view, right click its button in the
task bar and then click "Move". Once you do that, use the arrow
keys on your keyboard to move the program down and to the left so
that you can see it.

It might take some doing on your part to move the program window
into view since you really won't know how far it needs to be moved.

Good luck!

Playing mpeg (or more usually the .mpg extension) as used in DVD movies
needs a codec to handle them; none is supplied with Windows. There are
downloads available, worth I thing paying a small amount for a
commercial one - see
http://www.cineplayer.com/decoder/default.htm?from=
for one
