viewing holiday videos

I am not sure where to ask re this so please answer or direct me.
I am using Windows XP with media player as installed. Running explorer 8.
When I access Thomsons (or Lunn Poly) holiday sites and try to see their
video of a resort I cannot get a picture. I have a square with a small
rectangular square in the top left corner; I can click this but nothing
happens although sometimes I get sound but no picture. I can view their
photographs and maps but not the video.
I have tried with media player open and also tried dragging the square into
media window but no joy.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hello Stewart:

To be much more certain, you probably should have posted the URL you're
dealing with.

If you haven't installed Adobe's latest Flash Player, to go with your
Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), you won't be able to "see" any "flash" based
presentations. You'll need Flash Player 10.0.12.36(IE) (or better) for
your Internet security.

It's often a good idea to have another browser installed at least for
diagnostic purposes, and Firefox is a popular choice. And you will want
to add the plug-ins used at various sites, such as Flash.

Thank you both. As suggested I have now installed the latest Adobe Flash
Player but that has not helped. When I go to Thomsons main site I can view
their videos of cruises etc and in fact until I intsalled the update this
week of Internet Explorer 8 I think I could view from any of their sites.
I have included below the site I went to (I know it has a long title but
that is it) so may be you could have a look and see if you can watch the
video. I am still getting a black box in the top left corner and when I
check on its properties I see
http://easylink.playstream.com/tuiuk/asset/v00/523/941.wvx and from there I
can view the video however that should not be necessary; I do get the sound
when I left click but no view.
Any more ideas?
Thanks again

IE8 hasn't had its final release yet, it's still only RC1; for use on a
day-to-day "production" machine, you should stick with IE7. I believe
there's a specific forum for IE8 testers.

Rob, strangely they open in my laptop with media player as you say but not
in my desk top. Both computers are set up with same programmes etc. There
must be something in the desk top that is blocking it.
Thank you.
