Problem: Upgrade ME to XP

1) I used Windows XP Home Edition (the UPGRADE version)
to go from ME to XP. I wanted to do a CLEAN INSTALL. I
used the "Advanced" option. However when I tried to
Delete my hard drive I was prompted that I could not do
this as there were temporary files on this drive that
were needed to install the program. (Also when I hit
the "C" key for partitioning that key did not work).
Consequently I had to exit out of Advanced and go back
and do a STANDARD upgrade/install which just modifies ME.
Is this situation normal when installing XP UPGRADE?
2) In Disk Cleanup I now have a 288MB file
entitled "WindowsME installation files". It says these
came pre-installed on my computer and I can remove them
if I plan NOT to reinstall ME again. If I need to
reinstall XP UPGRADE do I need to keep these files? If I
delete them & I need to reinstall XP Upgrade, will I then
have to reinstall Windows ME first?
3) Is it possible for me to ever do a Clean Install with
the XP UPGRADE version?
THANKS for any help.

Did you boot your machine from the XP CD? If so, you would be able to
delete the C drive partition and start with a fresh hard drive.
