Hi! :-)

A friend of mine's computer is unable to unpack .zip files. When I asked him

"When you try to open it, whether by douple clicking or right clicking and
selecting "extract..." what happens? What kind of error message do you get?"

he responded

"cannot open file using current application"

What might be wrong and what can be done to fix the problem?

Assuming your friend is using XP

To Enable XP's built-in Zip Support:
1) Start Menu > Run
2) Type: regsvr32 %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll

or alternatively -

Exactly like that, even with the spaces and %

I have to be sure because my friend is not very computer literate

Exactly even with the space between 32 and %:
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll
