Problem trying to install Service Pack 1

Hi folks

I have recently reinstaled XP Professional as i installed
a new motherboard and chipset. I am now trying to re
install all the service packs and updates

When i try to install Service Pack 1 it will get so fat
and then give me the following error message...

The file c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys is open or
in use by another application

Please close all applications and retr
---------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea what application could be causing this
error, and it seems to me that it is something to do with
an IDE device...but then i dont know much

Please could someone help me sort this out, as I really
need to install SP1 to be ble to install other security
updates etc

I just reinstalled XP Pro and it gives me same error message. It seems that this is quite a bitter.
 
yeah, I seem to be having the exact same problem. I just reinstalled XP and it did this. I have been able to install it easily before on the same machine. I'm not too sure what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?
