Have tried everything that I can to install Service Pack 2

I have installed all updates, drivers etc and this is the error message I get
when service pack 2 tries to install

Unable to read from or write to the database.

please help I need to have this installed so I can install
adobe Creative suite 3 Web Standard for my Web Design class.
