Service Pack 3 - Application Error

I am unable to install XP Service Pack 3. The patch downloads, and at
installation I get the following error message:

drwtsn32.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "Ox5aoodeo" referenced memory at "Oxe5e66544". The
memory could not be "read". OK to terminate or Cancel to debug.

Nothing happened on the "debug" option, so ! hit OK.

Message "finishing installation"

Received Application Error message again. This time therew as no option to
debug, only "OK to terminate the program". However, "OK" didn't work!

Tried to close in Task Manager, but there was no response. The only way to
carry on was to hard boot the pc by pressing the pc power button. On
re-booting, the PC "rolled-back" to previous state, advising "Installation of
SP3 did not complete."

Can anyone help me with this? I need to ensure I have all the necessary
service packs and security updates on my pc!

Many thanks

If the configuration of your antivirus software prevents certain system
files from being changed, SP3 installation might fail. Try temporarily
disabling your antivirus software. You can usually do this by right-clicking
your antivirus program icon (which typically appears in the bottom
right-hand corner of the computer screen) and clicking Disable.

Many thanks Hula Baloo. Saved file to desktop, started in Safe Mode, and
installed patch. It all seems to be working well.

Thanks for your help.
