SVCHOST Application Error

Hi there,

Just wondering could anyone help me please! I've got the following error
message on a couple of PCs and don't know how to get rid of it.

Full Error Message "SVChost.exe Application Error -The instruction at
0X10006610 referenced memory at 0X10006610. The memory could not be
"written". Click Ok to terminate or Click Cancel to debug."

I have searched technet thoroughly and Google and came across suggestions
about ensuring all the latest updates are applied, which they are, turning
off automatic updates and applying patch KB927891, which I presume is already
applied as I am using Windows XP SP3 on those Pcs, but nothing is working and
I can’t seem to get the error to go away.

Strangely I even re-cloned the PC and the message still re-occurred. This
was the final straw, so now I am beat and need someone’s help!

Yours hopefully,

Tony

I would start with a tasklist and a netstat report to detect what these
machines are doing online. It's sounds a bit like spyware damage relic from
a spyware remove.
From the cmd prompt:
tasklist

use this info with the 'process id' in

netstat /ano

Something is probably still in startup:

Thanks for that Mark, I'll give it ago and see how it goes. I think it is
getting worse I tried to get onto the PC in question earlier and it kept
shutting down.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Thanks again,

Tony
