SVCHOST.EXE Error message

Pete

I am receiving a SVCHOST.EXE application error box which appears every minute
or so. The message reads..."The instruction at "0x7c917c43" referenced
memory at "0x0c45ff46". The memory could not be read." I have tried several
suggestions but without success. I could not locate any specific articles on
this exact error message. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Which several suggestions have you tried that did not work (don't want
to be redundant).

Have you tried this suggestion:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these three free
malware detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
AVG (AVG): http://free.avg.com/

Svchost errors seem extremely difficult to track down and debug, since they

So you did not run MBAM and AVG?

We need to rule out malware as best we can, THEN start
troubleshooting.

Were you doing any Windows updates at the time? This problem seems to
come up sometimes during or after a MS update.

I missed your information about XP version, Service Packs, and all
that stuff.

G

Gerry

Pete

RegistryFix would not remove any virus and being a registry cleaner
could have created further problems. You could be looking for malware
not a virus.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
1.36 -freeware (if you upgrade you pay).
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Run Malwarebytes' and turn off your current anti-virus
before you do to avoid a conflict. Disregard the invitation on the web
site regarding the Registry Optimiser -a Registry Optimiser is not a
helpful utility.

Please post a complete copy of the error report.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Start your own thread with a copy of the Event Viewer report recording
the error. Detail the specific suggestions you have tried. Tell us what
you were doing at the time the error occured. In particular what
programme you were running at the time. Indicate whether this is a one
off error and if not how frequently it occurs? Does restarting the
computer eliminate the error for a period of time?
