Problem to instal new applications in Windows XP

Hello,

I am trying to instal SQL Server 2000 in my PC and in the second stage of
the instalation I am getting error box stating " A previous program
installation created pending file operations on the installation machine. You
must restart the computer before running setup" The vary same message I am
also getting when I'm trying to instal MS Explorer! This message keeps pop up
all the time when I want to instal something regardless of retarting or not
my PC

Please help if you could :)

running
