problem that the Dell techs can't solve...

I have a Dell Laptop that came with Windows XP
Professional. I've repeatedly contacted Dell support for
help with this problem, followed their instructions and
have the same problem at the end of it all. After I've
been on the computer for about 5 minutes, all my display,
screensaver, wallpaper and pointer settings - which
I "customized" in Control Panel/Display and Control
Panel/Pointers - switch back to the Default settings,
which are too small for me. I have to go back into
Display and re-apply them. I haven't even been able to get
an explanation of what the problem might be from Dell.
And since I got the program preloaded on the computer, I
can't even get help directly from Microsoft. Can anyone
give me a hand? Thanks.

I would scan the computer for viruses and spyware but make sure everything
is up to date and do it in safe mode.

The other thing you can do which should solve your problem is to make your
settings the default.

Pretty simple to do as long as you save your settings before it changes you
should be OK worth a try anyways. Dell support at the lower level is not
very good you need to insist that it be escalated to get a person who is
qualified.
