Problem setting Security for file sharing in WinXP prof. for PC's in workgroup

Recently I bought a new PC with WinXP professional preinstalled. The system
was configured with two partitions. The C: partition I use for system and
program files, D: partition is data. Nothing uncommon.
Since several users are using this PC and I want a very flexible and
maintenancefree setup, each user got his own XP account. In each XP account
I configured one virtual (windows 2000) machine (VMWare) for easy back-up
and restore, that can be freely used by the user of that account. Each user
has a data directory on the D: partition.
Each virtual PC accesses this data directory through a (virtual)
networkconnection between a workgroup. Therefore the data directories on the
D: partition must be set to share data.

Now my problem. Contrary to all Win2K installations I have done before,
WinXP is not configured to set permissions on shared drives/files. I need
this because I don't want the individual accounts to have access to the data
directories of the other users. I am pretty shure however that WinXP can be
configured to do so but after several hours of trying I still haven't found
the solution. Who can help me???

Thanxx

To access the Security dialog for NTFS objects
in XP Pro you need to uncheck Simple sharing
at the base of the View tab of Folder Options.
Alternatively you may use a safe mode boot, which
is also the only way to access this in an unmodified
XP Home.
