Print and file sharing problem

G

Guest

I have two Window XP home versions with SP2 installed. Both PC have the
following setup on them.
File and Print sharing on
Member of same workgroup
Firewall turn off.
I have matching user accounts on each PC.
Guest account is turned on

From PC A I can access any shared files and folders on PC B.
From PC B I can only access shared printers. If I try to access the Shared
folders it tells me I do not have access. I have even tried the shared
document folder. Looking for suggestions I have spent several hours look at
this

What firewall is "turned off"? One of the most common causes of this problem
would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security
component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause
of your problem. Read this article with an open mind.

How about the complete and exact text of the error?

Check NetBT on each computer, and make sure that it's Enabled.

And make sure that RestrictAnonymous is NOT enabled.

If no help yet, examine "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server",
and "net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem.
Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely

folder is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.
noe enought server storage is avaliable to process this command

That's a problem with the server (the computer that you're trying to access).
It's an obscure registry setting, that gets changed by your antivirus
protection.

I know what you mean, but your words got twisted. XP HE *only* has simple file
sharing, so there is no option to turn it on or off. XP PRO offers a choice of
simple or complicated file sharing.

The OP has XP HE, so your advice does not really apply.

Hi Chuck,
Since i realised you were the most helpful and resposive on the help posts,
I ask you.
i am facing this new kind of problem with my file sharing.
it's been there for a while but i have sorta ignored it all this while until
now that i really need it
The problem is:
I cant share any thing ( no files on my college network)
I ran the network wiz again, changed computer name, re started system. but i
still cannot share.

All i can do is right click and have an option where i cant tick the option.
I used to share somewhere six months ago, i dont know how this happened, the
file sharing just stopped.
i cant share (partial or full access)
please tell me what to do

Thanks!

please reply back at (e-mail address removed)
