problem saving files

when i try to save a word document it acts like it's
saving the document but then it tells me "The file Normal
already exists. Do you wnat to replace th existing
file?" When i try to open the saved document it tells me
it's not available and I can't find it anywhere. I can't
even save to a floppy. HELP

Sounds like you are saving as a TEMPLATE instead of a Document.

Assuming that you are naming the file, in the Save As dialog box, and that
the File Type you're saving as is Word Document (doc), maybe your normal.dot
file is corrupted. The normal.dot file contains settings needed for Word to
function properly (and your customized Word settings too). With Word
closed, Search for the file normal.dot, when you find that file, right click
on it, and then left click on Delete. (Word will automatically recreate a
new normal.dot file the next time you open Word). Hopefully that will fix
the problem.
