Problem receiving web-based emails via Outlook

We have set up Outlook on 2 laptops to receive emails from our web-based
email. Mine works fine, but on my business partner's although she can send
messages, when we first set it up it said it was receiving 79 emails but none
appeared. We have checked all the settings and everything is identical on
both laptops. We have checked with our web hoster and they say everything is
fine their end. Hope someone can help

Do you get a sending error down in the bottom right hand side of the screen?
If so click it and see what the error number is. I'm having similar trouble
and get error number '0x80042108'. My ISP said it might be my Norton
firefall. So I'm researching that now.
Are you using Norton?

Hi ken, No sending message. Sending is fine, it's the receiving that's the
problem. We don't have Norton but we'll check the Windows firewall settings
just in case

Sorry that that wasn't your issue. I just ran the Norton 'LiveUpdate' and it
loaded new email scanners today. I've tried several directions and I'm
'retreiving' all of my mail now.
Sure hope you can uncover yours also.
Best of Luck,
Ken

By the way. What my ISP had me do this morning was to turn the Norton
Firewall off and then try the mail and I had to log off and back on but I got
the mail both directions. Which caused it to point mainly at the Norton
FireWall. And much to my happyness they arlready had a repair! If you have a
firewall on you could try that. But don't forget to turn it write back on! :)

Hi Ken

We've tried it with the firewall both on and off and have also set up the
port to ensure it is open. Our web hoster gave us some instructions to go
through DOS and everything is fine their end so it must be Outlook. We're
going to try and uninstall and reinstall just in case. We've also tried
setting it up as IMAP instead of POP3 and that was just the same. Ain't
technology wonderful!!!
