Problem maximizing IE browser windows

I accidently ran into some lousy browser-crasher called
raus.de/crashme, it opened like a zillion IE windows so I
tried to close them all, but i ended up having to reboot.
In the process, I did click many many times.

When I rebooted, the machine was fine, worked smoothly,
virus search using the latest detection didn't reveal
anything, but there was a STRANGE problem. Everytime I
maximize IE browser, the window moves to the bottom half
of the screen, which leaves the top half of my screen
still showing the desktop and the bottom half of my screen
showing the supposedly maximized IE window. I tried to
move it around but it wont' move, and the only fix right
now seems to be minimize then resizing.

Can anyone tell if I accidently changed some setting on IE
when I randomly clicked around? For your info, the full
screen option still works, I run a regular 6.0 with latest
updates, and use Windows XP. Thanks so much!

Try this:
Open one windows from IE, not maximized.
Drag the window edges to the size you want them to be.
Now close this window.
Future IE windows should now have the size you specified.

From: http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/offpos.htm

Symptom: IE opens a maximized window shifted down .

Remove any 'Auto-hide' option for the Windows taskbar and while the window
is maximized, resize the taskbar then return it to the desired size. This is
to try to make Windows re-calculate the window size and boundaries.

If no joy, run regedit and remove these registry key values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

Then reboot.
