problem linking multiple e-mails to a record in BCM

I have a problem linking multiple e-mails to a record in BCM in that when I
try to use SHIFT or CTRL to highlight more than one e-mail, the Link to
Record box is disabled. The BCM help pages state that it should be possible
to do this.

Hi CFK,

I believe that the "Link to Record" button is behaving correctly - that it
disables when you have multiple e-mails selected.

I pulled up the help article "Link to a Business Contact Manager record",
and realized which section that might read confusing...

Are you referring to this line?
"Linked records
Link To Select one or more records in the list, and then click Link To."

If you are, then it is actaully referring to being multi-select in the "Link
to BCM record" window that appears after you click the "Link to Record"
toolbar button.

I contacted our internal Help expert, and now the Office Online Help content
has been clarified and published from this URL
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP011129061033.aspx?pid=CH101206181033,
"Link an individual e-mail message or task to an Account, Business Contact,
Opportunity, or Business Project record", point 4), thanks to your input. :)

Hi John Huang

Thank you very much - this was very useful and has saved me looking any
further. I see now that the selection of multiple records using SHIFT or CTRL
actually refers to the records to which the e-mail will be linked, rather
than the e-mails themselves. The note is: "To select adjacent items, press
the SHIFT key, and then click the first and last item. To select nonadjacent
items, press the CTRL key, and then click the individual items." I see now
that it refers to the record NOT the e-mail.

Thanks again and best regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

Glad to hear that it now looks more straight forward to you. I believe you
have had helped more people than you would believe by helping us updating /
clarifying the help file content. :) Thank you!
