Problem launching Remote Assistance

Dave

Hello

I'm having a problem establishing a Remote Assistance (RA) session between a
novice and expert PC. When the novice requests RA via Windows Live Messenger
(WLM), the expert sees the request, clicks on 'Accept', and WLM confirms that
the request has been accepted. However RA does not start.

If the novice uses the 'Help And Support Center' to write out a
RAInvitation.msrcincident file, and sends the file to the expert via WLM, the
expert can launch that file and establish a RA session with the novice.

Anyone have an idea why RA won't launch natively thru WLM? The problem is
with the expert PC, but does not seem to be a firewall/connectivity issue
since RA will launch via the RAInvitation.msrcincident file.

Thanks in advance -- Dave

.... because anything with 'Windows Live' in front of it should be
avoided at all costs ? Sorry, couldn't resist.
Just because the invite can be sent and accepted from within WLM doesn't
mean that WLM is 'smart' enough to open the required port and/or launch
RA, as you've already witnessed.
