Remote Assistance config

Can anyone assist? I want to use RA to help a user on a Vista Home Premium
pc, the helper being on a Vista Ultimate pc. Both pc's are behind NAT
routers; the helper is router has a fixed IP, the novice is on a non-fixed
IP (but woudl be the same for the duration of theconnection)
The novice's router is an elderly USR 9106 which I think may not have UPnP.
The Helper's is a modern Zyxel which has UPnP but is not activated.
The connection is by the novice sending a RA request to the Helper - it
comes up & the novice's screen is visible but after a short while it ceases
responding (although remains fully working at the novices end).
Are there any pre-requisites for the RA connection eg the UPnP. Also the RA
file sent seems to have the novice's local IP address rather than the public
one - I assume this is OK through some use of the Teredo service or does the
file requier editing? Also, should any ports be opened or forwarded at
either end?
Thanks!

Save yourself a lot of hassle and use TeamViewer.
It's free for personal use.

The helper downloads and installs the full version - marked on the website as ' Start Full Version -It's Free! '
The user downloads the client exe - marked on the website as ' Join a Session '.
The client exe does not install any files, it is just run from the Desktop.
