problem installing Windows defender

Computer will not download windows defender software as it says 'Microsoft
client protection' needs to be uninstalled. Where is this programme on my
computerand will uninstalling it be detrimental to my computer and should I
then reinstall it afterwards and where do I find it to reinstall??

This message should indicate that you are running either Microsoft Security
Essentials, Microsoft Forefront Client Protection, or, perhaps, Microsoft
Live OneCare.

Each of these programs provides anti-malware capabilities inclusive of what
Windows Defender provides, and far more.

You do not need to install Windows Defender if you maintain one of these
other programs.
