The Old Fart

I have been trying to install a free program that was included on a PC
magazine. Every time that I attempt to install the program I get the
following message.

'The installer package could not be opened. Verify that the package
exists & that you can access it or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package.' I have the same
program on 2 different magazine yet both give me the same message. Any
idea as to whats the problem?

Make sure you are starting the right thing...

There can sometimes be several files called "setup.X"

I have tried various ways of starting programs including the one click
method which usually works with these programs.

Can you try this CD on a different PC? Most "included" CDs that are
inserted within magazines can be poorly made.

BTW: Which magazine? I have had CD problems with Maximum PC magazine
CDs myself. Some were bad CDs (which the magazine was glad to replace
as their "policy") and some of the "later" CDs problems forced me to
admit that my CD/DVD drive was failing.
