Problem in IE6 with a file called "pavtrc.dll"

Hi all,

I recently started to get an error with a file called "pavtrc.dll"
when using
Internet Explorer (recent version).

the event log viewer states the problem as:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting
module pavtrc.dll, version 2.9.0.0, fault address 0x000030be.

more specific error messege:

0000: 41 70 70 6c 69 63 61 74 Applicat
0008: 69 6f 6e 20 46 61 69 6c ion Fail
0010: 75 72 65 20 20 69 65 78 ure iex
0018: 70 6c 6f 72 65 2e 65 78 plore.ex
0020: 65 20 36 2e 30 2e 32 38 e 6.0.28
0028: 30 30 2e 31 31 30 36 20 00.1106
0030: 69 6e 20 70 61 76 74 72 in pavtr
0038: 63 2e 64 6c 6c 20 32 2e c.dll 2.
0040: 39 2e 30 2e 30 20 61 74 9.0.0 at
0048: 20 6f 66 66 73 65 74 20 offset
0050: 30 30 30 30 33 30 62 65 000030be
0058: 0d 0a ..

I also noticed the same problems appears when using MSN Messenger.

Any help will be appreciated.
Would appreciate when replying to this error to the group if a copy
will be send to me as well.

You can do a search for it and rename it pavtrcdll.old and boot. If it gives you grief, you
can do a another search for *.old and rename it back, but get the file from another machine
or emailed from a trusted friend. If you have an infection, it probably give you trouble
again.
For that, do an online scan at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ but I got no hits on a
Google search for the library file.

Hi, Do you have a Panda Antivirus App. installed? Pavtrc.dll
is a component in my Panda Titanium 2004. I sure hope it's not a
parasite. charlie R
