anyone else had this problem?
It downloads but then when installing I get a Office XP
Professional message saying I need to put in CD-ROM. Won't install
without this but my version is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2006.
Can anyone help?
You can by reading and comprehending exactly what you have written.
You get an "Office XP Professional message..." --> That points to it
referring to "Office XP Professional" not "Windows XP anything".
Windows XP is an Operating System. It comes in many flavors (Windows XP
Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Center, Windows XP TabletPC,
Windows XP x64).
Microsoft Office is a suite of productivity products (Word, Excel, etc.) and
it too comes in many versions. Office 95, Office 97, Office 2000, Office
XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007 to name some.
What you have indicated is that you are trying to install Office XP's SP3
and it is requesting you put in your Office XP Professional installation
media. This has nothing to do with the operating system you are running. I
realize you figured that out by now - but this is pretty well archived
indefinitely - so if anyone comes searching - they might get the help they
need...
Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Released way back on 3/30/2004. What I suggest is that you download from
the above link the "OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe" file and save it
to your desktop. (57.5MB - not 16MB!) Try running it.
(It states, on that page, "OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe: Download
this file if you do not have access to your installation source...")
It would be good to find and make a backup copy of your media ASAP.
