Problem Downloading Internet Explorer

Morton

Hi,

I'm running Vista Home Premium and SeaMonkey browser. The OEM IE7 does
not work, for some unknown reason, and I deleted it via the Vista
uninstall program method. When I search my hard drive for Internet
Explorer, it is no longer there. However, I tried several times to
download I.E.8 RCI (or whatever it is called), and keep getting a
message that it can't be downloaded because I have a newer version
already on my hard drive.
1) My deleted one was version 7
2) The 8 is the newest version, so how could I possibly have a newer
version already on board.

Does anyone have any idea as to how I can download and install I.E.8?

Thank you.

If you uninstalled IE7 from Vista then Vista will not work. You cannot uninstall IE7
from Vista. What you probably did is to remove the Icon and reference to it

Above is IE8 RC1 download site.

You can not uninstall IE7 from Vista.
Hi Mick,

Thanks for the reply. The link you referred to is labelled for Windows
Xp; I'm running Vista Home Premium. I did try to download fromn a
similar site, for Vista, and as in my original post, got a reply that I
can't download the newest RC1 version 8 because Windows has detected a
newer version on my hard drive.

As you and Peter said, I probably just deleted the I.E. 7 icon, but not
the program. Yet, in a catch-22, Windows is saying that my versiuon 7 is
newer than their version 8RC1. Perhaps Bill Gates has an explanation.

Thanks again to you both.
