Internet explorer 8 and Download accelerator

Hi,

I recently installed Internet Explorer 8 on Vista,
but, in the Tools\Manage Addons\Accelerators
section, i do not find any download accelerators.

Are there no download accelerators for IE 8 ?
Is it not free ?

I searched the internet and IE 8 FAQ, but did
not find clear info. Any ideas ?

There might be a problem with the find more accelerators webpage right now.
About every third time I click 'find more accelerators' The page fails to
load.
Try this link three or four times: http://www.ieaddons.com/gb/accelerators

I landed up in the link suggested by you
while doing 'Get More Add-ons' from IE 8.

I could find a list of download managers / accelerators -
http://www.ieaddons.com/gb/search/?search=download

I am not sure if they are free.

I checked 'Lightning Download' . I did not
find any info about the license in the brief
description provided in the below link -
http://www.ieaddons.com/gb/details/Time_Savers/Lightning_Download/
But, while installing, it seems to convey
that it is a shareware :-(

I tried 'Star Downloader Free' version 1.45,
It also did not talk about the license in the
brief description provided on website so
i had to go ahead with downloading &
installation to know about it completely
even the though the Name of the add-on
has a term 'Free'.
But, 'Star Downloader Pro' is not for free :-(

I checked description for other download
accelerator add-ons like 'Faster downloader' ,
'Download Toolbar for Microsoft Inte'.
but, most of them do not convey the
license details in the brief description.

I suggest that the license details should be
clearly mentioned in the brief description so
that user need not download the entire add-on.

Updated info .. I installed the above, (the cut down version) . but it had
no browser plugin that I could see, which made it not instantly easy to use
... Also when I closed the program I had some connection problem . it may
have been entirely coincidental of course ..

May I suggest you install Firefox browser and use this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201

I have not tried it .. but Firefox has many other very useful
Addons/plugins, so there is sufficient prior evidence to expect that this
plugin will do what you want.

But,I was looking for accelerator add-ons
(related to download manager) that are
being supported in IE 8 for Free -

I was just trying to see the speed & features
provided by Free IE 8 accelerator add-ons
before trying other free download managers.
But, It seems that there are No Free IE 8
accelerator add-ons for Download :-(
