problem creating user/profile properly, Argh!!

This is concerning a windows 2003 server/AD, I'm trying to get more
comfortable with the user profiles and stuff, so I created a user, and on the
server I pointed that users profile to an existing profile on the server.
When I log on to the
domain with that user from a workstation it loads the right desktop icons and
start menu, but won't load the right wallpaper or taskbar options, and won't
let me unlock the taskbar or change the wallpaper on the workstation. Do I
have to add a trust for that workstations computer in AD or something?

How did you copy the profile and assign permissions?

I basically copied a different users folder out of the "documents and
settings" folder and renamed it. I also added the user to the administrators
group in AD.
