Problem booting

Hi

I have a PC with XP home, most times I switch on the boot cycle starts then
I get a black screen with a
message
"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot
device and press a key.

I have to Ctrl+alt+ del to get it to reboot.

I have tried booting to CD, Floppy and Hared drive but nothing seems to
help.

I have run Memtest and a Hard Drive test but nothing shows up.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Do you have any external devices connected, eg usb drive?
Checked the boot order in the bios?
