I am having what I would call a unique problem. I have a PC that when I
try to go into safe mode I get only so many of the drivers loaded, and
then I get a BSOD. It happens no matter if you try to go into safe
mode, safe mode with networking or safe mode with command prompt. I can
go into windows normally though. The error is as follows.
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
0x000007B (0xF9678640,0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
This machine is running Win XP with SP2. I have taken the following
steps and still the error persists. I have reinstalled the system files
with the Win XP disc. I have changed the hard drive. I have also ran
chkdsk /r after each step and I always come up with errors on the
drive. I am not sure what else to do about this. Could this possibly be
an error with the IDE controller on the mobo? When I changed the hard
drive, I did not install a clean copy of windows, I used Norton Ghost
and made an image of the old drive and copied the image to the new
drive. I am strongly against having to install windows again but if
that is going to fix it I'll do it. I thank you for any help you can
provide.
