problem adding memory on A7N8X

Hi
I have an A7N8X motherboard with 1-256mb 184-pin DDR for memory. I recently
added another, an Azenram 256mb DDR. With the new memory installed, the
system runs great (XP Pro) until you try to run anything intensive like a
game (In this case, GTA Vice City and Star Wars: Knights of the Old
Republic). The games will run fine for about 3 minutes and then will either
crash to desktop or reboot the machine. With the memory removed, everything
is back to normal. Any ideas on why it won't work, or how I can make it
work?

I'm running 2500+ @ 3200+ on two A7N8X DLX boards. I believe your RAM
is out of sync. In the BIOS:

Advanced Chipset Features-
System Performance-
User Define-
Memory Frequency-
100%.

That Locks the CPU FSB in sync with the RAM. Even if you run stable
without them locked, performance can be awful with them out of sync.
My system would not run right until I made that change.
I also lock the AGP to 66Mhz. "Auto" can send it sky high on this
board. If those don't help keep in mind the board is RAM picky. Only
nine are approved by ASUS:

Thanks. Think I'll pick up an "approved" name rather than try to coerce the
azenram to work. Think I'll also quit buying computer stuff on impulse.

thanks again,
