Pro SP2 Upgrade Failure

When I try to upgrade my xp home sp2 to xp pro my install fails because I
cnnot copy files (eg, csv.xs_). The following is on the ms support site:

When you try to upgrade your computer from Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Service Pack 2 (SP2) to Windows XP Professional SP2, you receive an error
message that is similar to the following:
The file 'file_name' on Windows XP Professional CD-ROM is needed. Type the
path where the file is located, and then click OK.
Note The file_name file may be the Csv.xs_ file, or it may be a different
file.

When this symptom occurs, you cannot continue with the upgrade.

The workaround is a fresh install (not desirable), however, the cause is
because I do not have a hotfix installed. It is not clear that if I can get
the hotfix from ms and install it to my home SP2 before I attempt the upgrade
whether this will allow the install.

Has anybody had/solved this problem? All help/advise greatly appreciated.

On several occassions I have been missing files either because the disk went
bad, the file got deleted or it was never installed. To avoid a fresh
install you will have to find the file on another computer and copy it to
yours. You can use google to find files if there is no other computer
available at your location. If the file is in a cabinet you can use "grep"
to search the cabinet for "csv.xs" then click on the cabinet to get it. Use
google to get grep. Usually, this is an iterative process as it is rarely
that only one file is missing. I assume you are doing a repair type
install. If your xp pro is older than your xp home you may run into
problems unregistering the older apps when the supposidly newer ones from
pro are installed. That can be solved also, but only by restoring the newer
program that does the unregistering.

ps.. why are you putting in XP Pro if XP Home is working, the only real
thing you are going to pickup is network domains. If you system is a dell,
gateway, compaq, etc then it may have drivers that are not on the "stock xp
pro" cd and you may lose funcionality especially if you got a notebook.

Your PS is why I don't want to do a fresh install. I have a new Toshiba
laptop and have had problems with drivers before.

I don't need the domains, but I will demo web db sites on my machine, so I
need personal IIS installed, hence the pro. Also, I think I need pro to
terminal serve to my customer's terminal server (2000).

So go to Toshiba, download the proper drivers for Windows XP and Service
Pack 2 - burn them to CD, clean install Windows XP Professional, install
your drivers, install service pack 2, check that the firewall is on, connect
to the Internet, get the rest of the patches, install your
antivirus/antispyware software and then the rest of your applications.
